Second time around seoul.
[info]bjdooks
This trip included the Science Museum and the War Museum (which doubles as a Memorial too).

The Science Museum was interesting enough, and whilst clearly catering to a much younger audience was a pleasant way to spend a morning even if parts of it clearly needed some renovation (there where a few exhibits that did not work).

After feasting on a Subway sandwich (Korea food is nice, but there's few places that do a good euro-us style sandwich, and I really felt the need to indulge on a foot-long subway melt) we moved onto the War museum which also doubles as a memorial for the soldiers lost in Korean conflicts.

Back in Brussels for FOSDEM2010
[info]bjdooks
Just arrived in Brussels for FOSDEM2010, staying at the Hotel des Colonies which seems to be a nice enough early 1900s Hotel.

I'll make a decision about trying to attend the often overcrowded FOSDEM beer event this evening and may well end up trying to find some people I know and going for steak. MMM! STEAK!

Today's annyoance is brought to you by out-of-office replies.
[info]bjdooks
Why can't people configure their out of office auto-replies to ignore mailing list posts. There's nothing more annoying than getting a pile of replies to messages that where never meant to go directly to the person involved...

time travelling bank payments
[info]bjdooks
The boss just informed me my expenses would be paid on the 24th, it being a bit late on the 22nd to send the payment... however HSBC say that the relevant amount has been deposited into my account. Either HSBC has developed some kind of time-travelling payment system (in which case we should all be scared that they'll take over the world soon) or the boss simply forgot to that lately banks have reducing the temporal overhead on bank to bank transactions...

Whichever, having enough cash to pay a chunk of the credit card bill is always useful.

glitter tags not for teh win
[info]bjdooks
Glitter tags might look pretty, but the unforseen consequences are that youll be picking bits of glitter out of your bag (and anything thats been remotely in the same continent) for weeks afterwards

stable computer systems
[info]bjdooks
I've finally found the time to rebuild the machine I was using for building Linux kernels and other such things that needed a lot of cpu power. The old one had a habit of locking up or rebooting itself every few days, so I've replaced the motherboard, processor and the memory and now it seems to be fine.

The system is an Athlon quad-core 3.2GHz with 4GiB of RAM and is building recent kernels is about 4minutes 30seconds.

i2c and samsung trees now in linux-next
[info]bjdooks
I've asked for my trees on git.fluff.org for next-samsung and next-i2c to be included in the linux-next tree so that they can be merge tested. This is at the request of a couple of people who track this tree.
